Gasa Hot Spring Trek 11 nights/ 12 days
Trekking to Gasa Hot Spring is fun, which starts with a climb up hill. The low elevation makes this trek possible from February-March and October-December, however not advisable in the monsoon. Trek begins with 18 km drive from Punakha to Tashithang.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Paro.
Day 02: Paro sightseeing and drive to Thimphu
Day 03: Thimphu sightseeing and drive to Punakha
Day 04: Punakha sightseeing, drive to Tashithang for trek to Damji (16 km, 5-6 hours)
Day 05: Damji to Gasa Tsachhu (16 km, 4-5 hours)
Day 08: Day halt at Gasa Tsachhu for hot spring bath afternoon visit Gasa
Day 09: Gasa to Damji (18 km, 5-6 hours)
Day 10: Damji to Tashithang (16 km, 5 hours) trek to end drive to Punakha
Day 11: Drive to Wangduephodrang for sightseeing-Thimphu-Paro
Day 12: Drive to the airport and departure

Detailed Itinerary
Day 6
TASHITHANG TO DAMJI(16 km, 5-6 hours)
The road ends at Tashithang, walk over high suspension bridge of Chaka
Lumbi Chhu. You will find monkey playing alongside the river as well
Takin are said to be here. Making up and down trail cross wooden bridge
at 1960 m. Then climb climb up to reach Damji.
Day 7
DAMJI TO GASA TSACHHU(16 km, 4-5 hours)
From Damji at 2430 you will reach stupa and house of gun. Climb up
the hill you can view hot spring of Laya, cross the suspension bridge
river at 2360 m. Further make a short walk you can view the dzong.
The trail towards north finds mani wall and few houses, then drop
down to large stream of Gasa. The trail leads north directly to Hot
Spring at 2240 m, which is look after by Jigme Dorji National park,
that offers accommodations. It's pleasant to spend a day.
Day 8
DAY AT GASA TSACHHU
You can get around the hot spring or take packed lunch and climb about
two hours to Gasa village and the dzong.
Day 15
GASA TO DAMJI(18 km, 5-6 hours)
Trail towards south passing through few house and mani wall; after
sometimelook back for a good view of the dzong. Cross the suspension
bridge river at 2360 m, climb up the hill where you can view hot spring
and Laya. The trail climbs up and arrived at four house of gun and
climb to stupa. Making short walk, you will reach to Damji at 2430
m.
Day 16
DAMJI TO TASHITHANG(16 km, 5 hours)
The trail climb to southern part of village and after long descent
you will cross wooden bridge at 1960 m, making up and down trail.
You may encounter rhese monkeys playing alongside the river as well
Taking in this area. After long walk cross high suspension bridge
over the Chaka Lumbi Chhu. A short walk along the roadbed to the stream,
finally to Tashithang and vehicle will be waiting for you to take
to Punakha.
