Jumolhari Trek II 11 nights/ 12 days
This trek affords excellent opportunity to see yaks. It's also possible to view Jumolhari from Jangothang. The trek best suit from April to June and September to November. Days are warm but becomes cold above Jangthang. Snows are near and road are muddy in the rain.
The starting point of trek is from ruin Drugyel Dzong.

Day 01: Arrive Paro International Airport
Day 02: Paro
Day 03: Drugyel Dzong to Shana (17 km, 5-6 hours)
Day 04: Shana to Soi-Thangthangka (22 km, 6-7 hours)
Day 05: Soi-Thangthangka to Jangothang (19 km, 5-6 hours)
Day 06: Day Halt at Jangothang for acclimatization
Day 07: Jangothang to Dhumzo (16 km, 6-7 hours)
Day 08: Dhumzo to Thombu Shong (11 km, 4-5 hours)
Day 09: Thonbu Shong to Shana (13 km, 5-6 hours)
Day 10: Shana to Drukgyel Dzong (17 km, 5-6 hours) and drive to Paro-Thimphu
Day 11: Full day sightseeing Thimphu
Day 12: Drive to Paro Airport for departure
Detailed Itinerary
Day 3
DRUKGYEL DZONG TO SHANA (17 km 5-6 hours)
First day of the trek follows Paro Chhu valley climping up the ridges.
The actual trek starts from Drukgyel Dzong at 2580m. From here you
look back to see how dzong was positioned. After covering short distance
you will find settlement of Chang Zampa. A further walk takes to settlement
of Mitshi Zampa finding little shops and hotels. The valley widen
and you will reach at army post of Gunyitsawa at 2810m, there are
also primary schools and shops.
Day 4
SHANA TO SOI-THANGTHANGKA (22 km, 6-7 hours)
The trek continuous at side of Pa chhu through conifers and rhododandron
coming across Jigme Dorji Wangchuk National Park. By making gentle
climb on the rock through oak, crossing several steams come across
Phari Dzong of Tibet. Then climb little ridge, cross the Paro Chhu
on a wooden bridge. Finally come across Thangthangka at 3630 m, where
Bhutanese style house are there.
Day 5
SOI-THANGTHANGKA TO JANGOTHANG (19 km, 5-6 hours)
At night Jumolhariis covered with cloud, but be sure to view early
in the morning. Jumolhari appears behind the a ridge. Less than an
hour from camp at 3730m is army post. A short climb leads to small
chorten finding yak country. Making further climb come across Takethang,
clustered of stone houses on plateau at 3940 m.
Day 6
JANGOTHANG TO DHUMZO (16 km, 6-7 hours)
The trail leads to last settlement and drop to Paro Chhu, passing
through Tshophu (4380m) climbing to Bhonte La (4890 m)
Day 7
DHUMZO TO THOMBU SHONG(11 km, 4-5 hours)
The trail climb 100m and reach to another stream. Then comes across
finding few huts to Thombu La at 4520 m.
Day 8
SHANA TO DRUKGYEL DZONG (17 km, 5-6 hours)
It comes across primary school and shop, widening the valley. Soon
after passing further comes across Mitshi Zampa with little shops
and hotels. From here you can see how the how the dzong is positioned
and reach finally to Drugyel Dzong.
